The Langa Family publishing is an independent publishing house dedicated to producing books and periodicals that inspire, educate, and entertain. Founded by sustainability advocate, poet, and author GB Langa, the company is known for works like Little Ms Purple: Khensani's Green Planet Quest, a children’s series focused on eco-consciousness. With a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, The Langa Family Company publishes across genres, creating curricula-enhancing content like games and activity books, that gives back to communities. It also offers services and partnerships for authors who share its vision of sustainable knowledge for tomorrow.
The Little Purple brand
As a brand of The Langa Family publishing, Little Purple combines creativity with environmental education to empower the next generation of sustainability leaders. Through programs like Purple Upcycle STEAM, Purple SustyBate, the Khensani book series, and a weekly comic webseries, Little Purple engages students in hands-on projects that address real-world environmental challenges.
Purple Upcycle is a STEAM-focused initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) open to students in grades 4-11, with separate categories for Grades 4-7 and 8-11. This initiative encourages students to creatively transform recyclable materials into innovative or functional items, enhancing their problem-solving and design skills.
Winners of Purple Upcycle STEAM have the opportunity to showcase their work at community venues like Rustenburg Mall and Starbucks nation wide, where they gain visibility for their projects and inspire their peers and the public. They also advance to Purple SustyBate, a quarterly sustainability debate in which they explore key environmental issues, developing critical thinking and leadership skills and embodying the values of responsibility and advocacy for a better tomorrow.
In partnership with schools, Little Purple reinvests 20% of registration fees to support sustainability-focused clubs, providing resources and workshops that foster environmental responsibility. Through creative solutions and community engagement, Little Purple students are empowered to make a positive impact today for a sustainable future.

The Little purple comic series
The Little Ms. Purple Comic Series is an engaging initiative under the Little Purple brand, featuring the adventures of Little Ms. Purple, a curious and eco-conscious protagonist. The series inspires children, families, and educators with stories that emphasize sustainability, STEAM education, community engagement, and environmental conservation. Each comic explores themes such as recycling, upcycling, and reducing waste, while showcasing innovative problem-solving and the importance of protecting ecosystems. By promoting collaborative efforts to improve communities and encouraging kids to think creatively about their role in sustainability, the series aligns with the Purple Upcycle initiative and Purple School Sustainability Clubs.
